Animal Ecology

A butterfly (Aglais urticae) sits on a pink moss campion (Silene acaulis). Behind it lies the green valley of Berchtesgaden National Park.

Global Change. Insect Communities. Ecosystem Consequences.

The Animal Ecology group at the University of Bremen studies the impacts of climate- and land-use changes on animals and their ecosystem functions. We combine field work in various tropical and temperate mountain ecosystems, lab experiments and analyses of organismic traits to understand and mitigate the consequence of global change for biodiversity.
