Bremen Connect – Sails & Anchors for Talents

In addition to financial support, non-material support is a central component of the Germany Scholarship.

An important aspect of this is networking events for sponsors and recipients. These include the award ceremony at the beginning of the funding year (usually in December), regular get-togethers and a mid-term celebration, which is primarily organised by the students (usually in June). Scholarship recipients are prepared for these events in a kick-off workshop (usually in January).

In addition, BremenConnect offers a structured framework for further exchange and personal development through regular events. BremenConnect is the joint support programme of ProMentes and the Germany Scholarship at the University of Bremen. It is aimed at both mentees in the ProMentes mentoring programme and Germany Scholarship recipients. Some events are also open to sponsors and mentors. All target groups are informed at regular intervals via email.

What is it all about? Under the motto ‘Sails and anchors for talents,’ BremenConnect offers inspiration, guidance and a wide range of opportunities for further networking. The aim is to support committed students on their individual educational and career paths. At the same time, sponsors are involved in order to strengthen the exchange between theory and practice and to actively contribute their experience to the programme.

Participation and commitment:

The following principles apply at BremenConnect:

1. Commitment:
Participants are expected to contribute reliably and to keep to agreed appointments. Mentees receive a certificate of participation at the end of the programme, and scholarship holders receive a BremenConnect certificate if they attend at least four events.

2. Active participation:
The programme is brought to life by participants' own contributions, exchanges, involvement and networking with each other.

3. Openness & participation:
BremenConnect thrives on the ideas and commitment of its participants. Anyone who would like to get involved in programme design, events or public relations is very welcome to do so.
