Your name in Identity Management

Account administration registers your names exactly as they appear in the shown official documents (identity card, passport).

My name changed

  1. Have the changed name updated in the applicable databases, e.g. in the students registry (students office SFS), in the employees database (Ref. 05) and/or in the phone registry. You will have to show the appropriate documents for the change. The change will propagate into the identity management automatically, though in some cases it may take up to a few weeks.
  2. You can check and verify this in our onlinetoolsIhre Daten im Identity Management ansehen / See your identity management data.
  3. As soon as the new name is registered in identity management, you could apply for your own e-mail alias name with your new name in our onlinetoolsmanage e-mail-aliases. By using an alias address, you can use a different e-mail address than the one resulting from your user name. You can receive these e-mails in the same inbox of your university account.
  4. It is not possible to change the user name.
  5. Please also ensure that your changed name is updated in all email clients you use. This does not happen automatically and can be found and changed, e.g. in the university's webmailer in the name field of the default identity in personal settings (and sometimes also in the signature field). Most email clients on your devices can be configured in a similar way. Send yourself a test email to check the settings.
