Transnational Literary Studies: Literature, Theatre, Film

In your TnL studies, you will learn about the diverse historical and generic transnational and transcultural interrelationships of literary genres and movements, theatre and film. Special attention is paid to the cultural production of the Romance languages as well as the German-speaking and Anglophone cultural areas. You will acquire a broad foundation of knowledge in the fields of literature, film, theatre, media and cultural studies theories. The respective historical and cultural context, diachronic developments from the Middle Ages and early modern times to modernity will play just as important a role in your examination of transnational phenomena as the analysis of postmodern and contemporary art and mediality in and outside Europe.
