The University of Bremen also plays a significant role in the modern fabric of the city. It provides educational opportunities to around 20,000 students while working symbiotically with neighboring research and tech institutions.

Which program best suits me?
Mathematicians are in demand nationally and internationally; not only in science, but also in almost all areas of the job market - in particular finance, insurance, software development, management consulting, medicine, as well as digital communication. In combination with the strongly anchored concept of research-based learning, in which students work on their own research projects, we offer excellent preparation for a possible subsequent doctorate.
Industrial mathematics focuses on using modern mathematical methods to solve problems that occur in science, engineering, and industry. Typical topics range from methods for solving partial differential equations to optimisation methods and inverse problems to machine learning approaches. A core element of the study programme is a one-year project in which students work on real tasks from research or industry in close cooperation with external partners. Typical fields of application are in the development of production processes, measurement technology, medical devices, self-driving vehicles of all kinds and in aerospace, to name just a few examples. Our graduates also find their professional future in all these areas later on.
Biostatistics as a science of modelling and analysis of quantifiable biomedical processes and phenomena opens up a wide range of applications, for example preventive medicine, treatment of environmental risks, health care as well as research and development. The program enables students to carry out scientific work independently; for example, the statistical planning and evaluation of empirical studies or the mathematical modeling of correlations in biology and medicine.
