Projects

Our main focus

The department's Curriculum Research focus area develops and implements curricula based on educational science, nursing science and nursing didactics in collaboration with partners from nursing education practice. Curricula are also examined and evaluated in this focus area, for example module handbooks for primary qualifying degree programmes. The department uses the educational theory-based nursing didactics model of interactionist nursing didactics developed by Prof Darmann-Finck as the theoretical basis for its research and development work. The department also conducts basic research into nursing didactics. Teaching interactions and the competence development processes of learners are the main focus.

In the focus area of Qualification Research, the department works on research projects on changes in the professional field and the resulting demands on professional education with a focus on the professionalisation of nursing. For example, the expansion of nursing to include curative tasks, the effects of increasing work intensification and cooperation with colleagues with different qualifications or the requirements of vulnerable target groups in particular are investigated.

In terms of research methodology, the department primarily uses qualitative methods. Cooperation partners include healthcare schools, school networks, clinics and geriatric care facilities, research institutes as well as authorities and ministries at federal and state level
