The First International Conference on AI in Medicine and Healthcare (AiMH' 2025) occurred in Innsbruck, Austria, from 8 to 10 April 2025. The conference aimed to create a deeper understanding of the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine and healthcare. The AiMH' 2025 in Innsbruck brought together leading researchers, physicians, engineers, technologists and policy makers with the aim of promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation and advancing the responsible and ethical integration of AI into healthcare systems worldwide.
Prof Dr Karin Wolf-Ostermann from the Institute of Public Health and Nursing Research (IPP) organized and chaired this special session entitled ‘From Algorithms to Action: Implementing AI in Daily Nursing Practice’. Janissa Altona, also a member of IPP, presented the assessment tool for determining the readiness of care facilities to integrate AI solutions. The contribution entitled ‘ProKIP: Rationale and Development of the AI-Nursing-Care-Readiness-Assessment (AINCRA)’, embedded in the special session with five specialist contributions, was presented by an interdisciplinary team of experts.
AiMH' 2025 attracted broad international interest: A total of 125 papers were submitted, 72 of which were included in the official conference programme. Researchers from 33 countries - 18 from Europe and 15 from other regions of the world - presented their work. In addition to five keynote speeches, the programme included a special session dedicated to the practical implementation of AI in care.
