Proof of English language competence with a German Abitur or Fachhochschulreife

The information provided here on the recognition of school-related achievements as proof of language proficiency applies to the admission procedure at the University of Bremen.

For applications to Bremen University of Applied Sciences and Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences, please refer to the respective degree programme pages under the section ‘Admission requirements for proof of English language proficiency / recognised certificates’.

• A1: at least 1 year of English at school
• A2: at least 3 years of English at school
• B1: for those who did their Abitur or Fachhochschulreife in year 12 (G8) - at least 6 years of English at school - through to at least year 11
• B1:for those who did their Abitur or Fachhochschulreife in year 13 (G9) - at least 7 years of English at school - through to at least year 12

Obtaining a UNIcert I certificate

The UNIcert? I certificate is recognized as proof of language proficiency at level B1 for admission to Bachelor's and Master's degree programs at universities in the state of Bremen, as well as at all accredited institutions.
