SZHB Staff Talk Highlights Remarkable Growth and Global Engagement

At a recent YUFE meeting (May 22nd) in the YUFE main office in Brussels, the SZHB presented its language offers for YUFE staff: a success story that began with just five course seats and has grown into a vibrant, multilingual program with over 50 seats offered to staff across all YUFE universities.

The talk, led by Friederike Weiss (SZHB), showcased how the center nurtured this growth through strategic planning, customized offers, and central coordination and marketing. Emphasizing communication, inclusion, professional growth, and lifelong learning, the program has expanded to include English, German, French, and Spanish courses tailored to professional and academic contexts.

Staff participants shared glowing testimonials about their experiences, praising the interactive classes, cultural diversity, and professional relevance. With a focus on further language expansion, intercultural training, and in-person networking formats like Language Lounges and Book Clubs, the future of YUFE staff language training at the SZHB looks bright.

From a modest beginning to a thriving initiative, the talk stressed once again how language learning empowers university staff.
