Media study programs
If you are interested in studying media, communication and society, the University of Bremen offers a basic course of study at Bachelor level with the BA Communication and Media Studies. This can be continued at the Master's level by studying the MA Media Culture and Globalization (with an interest in questions of globalized media cultures and intercultural communication) or by studying the MA Digital Media and Society (with an interest in questions of a society shaped by digital media).
For an in-depth study of aesthetics and history, the University of Bremen offers the MA Art History and Film Studies (if interested in aesthetic, media and cultural change processes).
These courses are offered by Department 9 Cultural Studies in close cooperation with the Centre for Media, Communication and Information Research (ZeMKI). As a result, they are closely linked to the latest research on media and communication change.
If there is an interest in studying computer science and design, the University of Bremen has a BSc Digital Media course at BA level, which is conducted jointly with the Hochschule für Künste (HfK) Bremen. Here, a basic course of study in computer science with a focus on digital media (approx. 2/3) is combined with design courses (approx. 1/3). Programming plays a key role as a form of implementing your own ideas with a computer.
The study can then be continued and further deepened with the English MSc Digital Media. These courses are offered by the Faculty 3 Computer Science/Mathematics together with the HfK Bremen. They are intended for students who want to work in the borderline between science and art, technology and design, formalism and intuition.
