Teaching
Mission
?Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn“
This famous quote by Benjamin Franklin manifests my understanding of university teaching. We know from numerous scientific studies that only a fraction of the conveyed knowledge is stored in the long term when simply listening or reading. People learn when they deal with a practical problem themselves. This is also in line with my own experience as a student: Learning was particularly easy for me when the subject matter stimulated me to think about everyday phenomena and to think critically. I am convinced that all people have an innate curiosity. My teaching goal is to awaken this curiosity in students and encourage them to satisfy their curiosity.
