Since August 2025, Dr. Cosme Polese Borges has been a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bremen, working within the Research Group for Resilient Energy Systems (FGRES). He is currently involved in the hyBit project, which aims to promote the development of a hydrogen economy in Bremen. In 2024, Dr. Borges defended his doctoral thesis in Production Engineering at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil. His dissertation examined the diffusion and adoption of biogas and biomethane technologies in Brazil’s energy matrix, with particular emphasis on biomethane integration with local natural gas infrastructure. Dr. Borges is experienced in simulation and optimization modeling, as well as in sustainability transition frameworks such as Technological Innovation Systems. His research interests focus on how renewable gases can accelerate sustainable energy transitions while also promoting local economic growth through their integration with natural gas and other energy infrastructures.
