Academic Careers – Promoting Talent

Targeted promotion and early independence are among the University Bremen’s key aims. Appointment procedures are transparent and appreciative. New career paths like the tenure track for professors and the tenure-track towards a (Senior) Lecturer or (Senior) Researcher position are fully established at our university.

Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R)

The University of Bremen continuously works on the development and implementation towards its own HR strategy for scientists to improve working conditions and to create an inspiring working environment.

University Executive Board

Prof. Dr. Jutta Günther has been the University President since 2022. She is the academic head of the University of Bremen and Chairman of the Academic Senate. She is in charge of determining the strategic direction of teaching and research. Three Vice-Presidents, deputies of the University President, support her in the further development of the University. Prof.Dr. Michal Kucera is responsible for Research and Transfer, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Maren Petersen is responsible for Teaching and Studies, and Dr. Mandy Boehnke for International Affairs, Academic Qualification, and Diversity. Frauke Meyer is Director of Finance and Administration.

Teaching and Studying

More than 100 attractive study programs are designed to immediately involve students, enabling them to find new insights into and solutions to current pressing issues.
