There is an agreement with the staff council concerning wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) on the campus of the University of Bremen. In the context of this agreement, a total of five expert reports have been prepared since 2001 "to determine the exposure to high-frequency electromagnetic radiation from wireless networks at the University of Bremen".
The basic principle for the equipment is that access points should not be installed near permanent workplaces. If there is a good reason to install an access point near a permanent workplace, then a minimum distance of 2m to the permanent workplace must be maintained. The coordination of new positions is done in cooperation with the employees in the building and the staff council. Only the access point models covered by the aforementioned expert opinions will be used.
The Zentrum für Netze (ZfN) continuously monitors the scientific findings in this area and takes action if necessary.
