Nils Leusmann completed his bachelor’s degree in information technology at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Stuttgart in 2016. In 2017, he began his master’s degree in computer science at the University of Bremen, which he successfully completed in 2020. Afterwards, he worked as a research associate at the Institute for Artificial Intelligence at the University of Bremen until the end of 2024, where he conducted research in the field of digital twins, robotics, and cognitive architectures.
From now on, Nils will be working at the DSC under the BMBF-funded joint project “INDIFUN-AI”. The aim of the project is to develop an automated system for monitoring and studying biodiversity and its changes due to climate change, in cooperation with several institutes. Nils’ research will focus on self-assessment routines for online algorithms using domain-specific data (specifically plankton data). The overarching goal is to develop an AI-based system that contributes to the understanding of biodiversity in the Arctic and the “health” of the ecosystem.
We are excited to welcome Nils to our DSC team and look forward to working with him!
