Short Profile

Kira Molina studied Cultural and Translation Studies (Spanish, Portuguese, and French) at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, as well as Romance Studies at the University of Bremen, and expanded her profile with a Master of Business Administration, through which she gained experience in (international) business.

Since August 2023, she has been a research associate at the University of Bremen in the field of Romance linguistics. Her doctoral project is dedicated to the study of pragmatic variation in digital communication spaces and follows an interdisciplinary perspective. At the intersection of sociolinguistics, digital communication studies, and the digital humanities, her research pays particular attention to the effects of migration, diaspora, and digitality on linguistic practices in highly dynamic societies.

With her work, Molina aims to shed light on the complex social, cultural, and communicative processes that shape linguistic variation in transcultural and digital contexts, in order to account for today’s highly dynamic societies and to explore how linguistic practices vary, and which social, cultural, and communicative dynamics play a role in this variation.
