On 14 and 15 November 2019, Jarina Kühn attended a user workshop of Qualiservice. Qualiservice is an accredited research data centre for qualitative social science research data in the SOCIUM (Research Centre for Inequality and Social Policy) of the University of Bremen, supported by the DFG (German Research Foundation). The aim of the workshop was to inform about the secondary use of qualitative data as well as about the advantages of central scientific data management. In particular, anonymisation and contextualisation processes were discussed, which are of great importance in the context of secondary data use for traceability.
Jarina Kühn is doing her doctorate in the research project "Modernisation Blockades in Economics and Science of the GDR". As a qualitative researcher, it is important to her and her colleagues to deal with questions of data management and to plan the possibilities for long-term archiving and further usability of collected data at an early stage.
