Academic exchange with Sapir College Sderot/Israel
How can we deal with diversity in our societies on an equitable basis? - Inclusion and exclusion in Germany and Israel
As part of a cooperation arrangement between the Faculty of Cultural Studies at the University of Bremen, the nearby Bredbeck Conference Centre and Sapir College in the south of Israel, an annual German-Israeli academic exchange has been taking place since the winter semester of 2015/16 under the heading ‘How can we deal with diversity in our societies on an equitable basis? - Inclusion and exclusion in Germany and Israel’.
Within the framework of two one-week seminars (held in English), the various aspects and challenges of the topic are presented in the form of lectures, best-practice examples and visits to social and cultural institutions, and worked on together in intensive discussion rounds. The first part of the exchange takes place in the Bredbeck Conference House near Bremen, the second part in Israel. Accommodation during the seminars is provided at the Bredbeck guest-house or at the Israeli students’ homes.
The event is particularly aimed at students of cultural studies and studies of religion with experience in social or cultural work.
By participating in both parts of the seminar as well as the preparatory seminar in winter semester, 6-9 CP can be acquired in the area of General Studies or, by arrangement, also in subject-specific modules in the interdisciplinary Master's programme ‘Master Transcultural Studies’ in Studies of Religion and Cultural Studies.
