Introduction

Teddy Lange has been a research assistant at LEMEX – Chair for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses, Start-ups, and Entrepreneurship – at the University of Bremen since October 2025.
His research focuses on the “people side of entrepreneurship,” examining in particular the role of emotions, personality development, and mental health in start-up processes. His doctoral thesis is entitled: “The effect of meditation on the decisions of managers in start-ups.”

His research interests include:

the influence of affect (emotions) on the decisions of founders,
personality development as a key factor in entrepreneurial competence,
mental health and resilience among founders,
the use of mindfulness-based interventions (e.g., meditation) in entrepreneurship and leadership.

Teddy brings over eight years of start-up experience from the US, Canada, and Germany and, among other things, was responsible for the business development of a chemistry and AI start-up as its founder. Since 2022, he has been working as a freelance trainer and coach, primarily supporting Series B start-ups in strategic clarity and team dynamics.

He also teaches decision-making, self-management, resilience, and entrepreneurship at the universities of Bremen, Bremerhaven, and Hanover. Academically, Teddy studied public policy with a focus on entrepreneurship and negotiation at Harvard University, earned a bachelor's degree in business chemistry at the University of Düsseldorf, and is currently completing a degree in psychology alongside his doctorate.

Outside of work, he can often be found hiking in the mountains, traveling in his camper van, or visiting planetariums throughout Germany, where he creates a special space for peace and reflection with his “Meditation under the Stars” program.

Students interested in writing theses in the field of entrepreneurship with a focus on emotions, decisions, and mental health are welcome to contact him. He also enjoys connecting with people who have an intrinsic interest in designing human-centered startup ecosystems.
