Dr. Nora Diehl

I studied Biological Sciences with a marine focus (Bachelor of Science) and Marine Biology (Master of Science) at the University of Rostock, Germany. During my Master’s I have spent 8 months at the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand for the studies of my Master Thesis and an internship about red algae and oomycete genetics. My PhD at the University of Bremen focused on physiological and biochemical responses of European kelp species to ocean warming.

For my new project within the EU Horizon 2020 project “FACE-IT”, I conduct comparative analyses of the biochemical and genomic profiles of kelps from different Arctic sites. Additional, I investigate the effects of climate change on various Arctic kelps.

Overall, my main research topics are intra- and interspecific acclimation processes of marine macroalgae to environmental stress, with a focus on biochemistry, eco-physiology and population genomics.
