Project

This project is part of the interdisciplinary research program "Rational Design of Ceramic/Polymer Composite Materials with Tailored Properties - From Radiation Sensing to Energy Harvesting in Extra-Terrestrial Environments", which is conducted in collaboration with the Fraunhofer IFAM, the Advanced Ceramics group, the DLR Institute for Space Systems and the MAPEX Center for Materials and Processes. The aim of this interdisciplinary project is the development of novel composite materials for space applications, which allow the protection from and sensing of ionizing space radiation as well as the simultaneous generation of energy. This particular PhD project deals with the quantum chemical simulation of these materials, thus providing important impulses for the rational design and optimization of the materials.

Additional information on the project can be found here.

Funding by the APF program of the state of Bremen is gratefully acknowledged.
