In August, some of our colleagues took part in two conferences.
At RO-MAN - 34th IEEE International Conference on Robot and Human Interactive Communication, Rachel Ringe presented her paper "Bot Appétit! Exploring how Robot Morphology Shapes Perceived Affordances via a Mise en Place Scenario in a VR Kitchen“ and ”The Fluffy Tightrope - Examining Zoomorphic Robot Interactions for Promoting Active Behavior in a Comfortable Setting."
And we were well represented at Mensch und Computer 2025 in Chemnitz by our colleagues Lisa Hesselbarth, Rachel Ringe, Iddo Wald,Shiyao Zang, our visiting researcher Amber Maimon, and our master's student Anika Borg. They presented the following work there:
- A workshop paper entitled “Join Me - Empirical Means for Gathering Collaborative Affordances” in Rachel's “How to team with your robot” workshop
- A short paper+poster entitled “Tangible Windmills: Exploring Tangible User Interfaces for Urban Infrastructure Planning” introduced by Lisa.
- A short paper+poster entitled “Evaluating Head Gestures for Answering Likert Scales in Virtual Reality: A Comparative Study” presented by Anika.
- A demo titled “BreathClip: A Wearable Respiration Sensor for Interaction Design” shown by Amber, Iddo, and Izzie
- A demo titled “DoggoRoomie – Examining Zoomorphic Robot Interactions For Promoting Active Behavior In A Comfortable Setting” given by Anika and Rachel.
Great work, you six
