Bremer Zentrum für Baukultur (b.zb)
Storytime with: Julia Lossau and Christian von Wissel
WHY is the Bremer Zentrum für Baukultur involved in shaping our city?
HERE’S WHY – Building culture, or “Baukultur” in German, is the collective task of shaping our built environment. It involves coming together and jointly negotiating individual decisions that, together, result in a whole: namely, our city. Building culture goes beyond the narrower aspects of architecture and planning to address social, political, and ecological issues as well. After all, our cities are only as sustainable, inclusive, vibrant, and livable as we make them.
WHY is there a bit of the University of Bremen in the Bremer Zentrum für Baukultur?
HERE’S WHY – How do we envision life in Bremen? The desire to help shape the city and make it a vibrant place has a long tradition at the University of Bremen, which is why the university was also involved in the founding of the b.zb in 2003. And this tradition continues even today, with students and faculty members from different disciplines at the b.zb committed to building a humane city.
