About BRISE - Bremen Initiative to Foster Early Childhood Development
The Bremen Initiative to Foster Early Childhood Development (BRISE) investigates the effects of early childhood intervention from pregnancy to the first year of primary school. The study aims to identify strategies, which enables a good start at school for all children and to support educational equality.
The longitudinal study BRISE is a joint project of various research institutions, which started in Bremen in 2016. It maps the spectrum of children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and neurophysiological development and family environment. The research includes interviews, participating observation, EEG and Eye-Tracking methods to better understand early childhood development. Assessment are partially run at the BRISE Research Lab.
The Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP), the National Educational Panel (NEPS) and other partners provide extensive comparative data. Additionally, BRISE cooperates with local support programs.
