Optical spectroscopy of two-dimensional semiconductor materials
Two-dimensional materials such as graphene, transistion metal dichalcogenides (e.g. MoS2) and boron nitride are in the focus of research and development. In this bachelor or master study, MoS2, MoSe2, WS2 and WSe2crystals will be exfoliated by the 'Scotch-tape' method and transfered to silicon oxide substrates. This process leads to the formation of mono- and multilayers with different optical properties. The multilayers will be thinned down to a monolayer by laser irradiation. The laser-thinning process will be monitored by Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The influence of laser energy and intensity of the thinning will be in focus of this study.
