I studied sociology, social anthropology, and political science in Istanbul, London, and Berlin. After completing my Ph.D. at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies (now the Center for Maghreb, Mashreq, and Gulf Studies) at Freie Universit?t Berlin, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Leibniz Center for Modern Oriental Studies from 2012 to 2019. From September 2016 to July 2017, with the support of the Volkswagen Fellowship for the Humanities, I spent ten months as a visiting scholar at the Department of Anthropology at the University of Toronto. Most recently, I have taught anthropology courses in Berlin, Bremen, and Istanbul.
