The KoRA-Concept

CHALLENGES

In order to use the potential of collaborative robots for work processes, using assembly as an example, and to develop problem-solving strategies for the assembly process, the KoRA concept provides support in education and training.

TECHNICAL APPROACH

From a technical perspective, KoRA implements the mapping of real assembly scenarios in a virtual environment. In doing so, the integration of haptic feedback elements conducive to learning is implemented.

DIDACTIC APPROACH

KoRA offers learning software based on mixed reality in conjunction with learning and work tasks for the training and further education of collaborative employees. The concept also provides training for instructors.

TARGET GROUPS

The KoRA concept addresses several occupational and employee groups within education and training, especially in industrial production and the associated training personnel.                       

EMMA research platform as the basis for KoRA

The "Experimental Modular Assembly Plant", EMMA for short, developed at bime as a research platform as well as a learning factory, enables competence development in the field of assembly planning as well as execution and serves as a basis for the KoRA learning application. The virtual image enables the linking of methods in virtual environments with physical plant control as well as real system behavior.

Research Design

The KoRA-MR learning software is being developed in the KoRA project. Qualitative and quantitative survey and evaluation methods are used for the following sub-studies:

TARGET GROUP ANALYSIS

A method triangulation of questionnaires as well as guided interviews will be used to analyze the target groups for KoRA.

HAPTIC FEEDBACK

The implementation of a haptic feedback and the user-specific immersion effect are investigated in a laboratory setting.

EVALUATIONS

The development of the KoRA-MR learning software is systematically accompanied by trials as well as evaluations in order to identify and implement target group needs.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSES

Comparative analyses will be used to examine differences and similarities of learning within the software compared to learning at EMMA.
