Bremen Linguist takes The Little Prince to Belize

Nicole Hober has researched the language contact between English and Mopan Maya in Belize and published The Little Prince in the Mayan language with local speakers. We talk about linguistic challenges, cultural responsibility and research that is more than just collecting data.

This year's CHE ranking also emphasises the strengths of Faculty 10. In German Studies, it is the good support at the beginning of the degree programme. In Romance Studies, the University of Bremen has a particularly high number of doctorates per professor.

Names in context: The Society for Name Research met in Sweden

The three-day annual conference of the ‘Gesellschaft für Namenforschung e.V. (GfN)’ took place in Uppsala in April 2025 under the title ‘Names in Context’. Three students were also given the opportunity to take part in the conference at the Institutet f?r spr?k och folkminnen by presenting posters.

Community over Commercialisation – this was the motto of the Open Access Week held at the State and University Library of Bremen last October. Anja Becker, Professor of Medieval German Studies, also took part in a panel discussion on the future of Diamond Open Access.

At the meeting of the Bremen Senate on 4 February 2025, Lucia Werder, Director of Bremen City Library, literary critic Dr Wiebke Porombka and university professor Dr Karen Struve were appointed as the new Board of Directors of the Rudolf Alexander Schr?der Foundation until February 2030.
