Introduction

Thomas has been a research assistant at LEMEX since May 2016.
After completing his Bachelor's and Master's degree at the University of Bremen - with a focus on "International Entrepreneurship, Management & Marketing" - and a semester abroad at Syddansk Universitet Odense, Denmark, Thomas initially gained practical experience in cooperation management at MeinFernbus/Flixbus in Berlin and got to know the Berlin start-up scene.
Since 2016, he has strengthened the LEMEX team in research, teaching and the chair's practice transfer activities.

  • His research interests lie in the areas of Entrepreneurial Ecosystems, Rural Entrepreneurship, Migrant Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurship Support in a conceptual and empirical way. In 2020, Thomas received his doctorate with his dissertation on "Exploring the Idiosyncratic Nature of Entrepreneurial Ecosystems".
  • In teaching, Thomas offers research and practical seminars, especially in the Master's program, and supervises students in the preparation of their Bachelor's and Master's theses.
  • Thomas is involved in the chair's transfer activities. He is part of the European research project Inno-Quarter, a member of the Bremen working groups "Startups & Innovations" and "Migration Entrepreneurship" as well as the transfer network of the University of Bremen. Thomas has also organized various workshops and events such as the Bremen Entrepreneur Days 2016, 2018 and 2020, and has played a key role in the development of applications for third-party funded projects. Thomas also regularly represents LEMEX in various jury activities as part of pitch events and start-up awards. Since 2022, Thomas has also been organizing a monthly start-up get-together and is committed to networking founders and students.

Please contact Thomas if you are interested in discussing your start-up project!
