In this time- and location-independent online course, students acquire knowledge about what psychology is, how this discipline emerged as a science, what it deals with and which methods are used in psychology for research purposes. The aim is to acquire basic knowledge of various subject areas within psychology, such as differential, biological, personal and social psychology. Students should be able to understand the relevance of psychology in economics.
The students acquire basic knowledge about strategic personnel management in Germany and about further topics. In particular, they will learn about hiring and retention as well as about commitment and development, remuneration and success of personnel. The evaluation of options for action with regard to the applicability of the topics in companies is a further focus here.
Students acquire in-depth knowledge of the content and subjective and objective methods of personnel selection. You will also acquire methodological skills by developing a personal selection procedure and carrying it out independently.
This module aims to provide students with a profound understanding of the topic "Automation in the world of work", including the effects of using Artificial Intelligence (AI), from the perspective of (Business) Psychology. This includes acquiring knowledge about automation trends, the psychological impacts on the human role in the workplace, and the design of human-centered work in collaboration with technology. Additionally, students will be empowered to apply and convey this knowledge in the form of creating explanatory videos, seminar units, and interviews with experts.
The students are enabled to work on practical and research-relevant problems on the basis of their specialist knowledge in groups and individual work. Their methodological skills are also trained in practical use. The focus of the project will be announced at the beginning of each semester.
The aim of the empirical internship is to prepare students for the requirements of data collection in basic and applied research in economics and business psychology. The entire process of good scientific empirical work is illustrated and practiced. Students should be enabled to independently carry out all processes associated with empirical data collection and analysis within a time schedule. These skills are acquired with the aim of realizing, understanding and communicating data collection and analysis in scientific, but above all in professional fields of activity. This module extends over two semesters and starts in the 3rd semester. The statistics program R is used.
