Project Description:
The BESTVILLE project involves the creation of a Tiny House Village, which represents a living experimental field for sustainable urban energy systems. BESTVILLE consists of small, energy-technically interacting mobile houses and serves as a community workshop, research environment and temporary living space. The aim is to promote an understanding of complex socio-technical energy systems and to develop innovative solutions. BESTVILLE is aimed at various target groups and represents aspects such as sustainable living, education, research and community. As a living lab, it aims to illustrate and organise various overarching aspects, while each tiny house represents a specific area. The unique research environment will enable scientists from all disciplines to take an in-depth look at various aspects of urban energy systems. The targeted integration of younger generations promotes a conscious approach to energy and the environment. Mobility makes it possible to relocate the village to the neighbourhoods and districts for effective science communication and public relations work, while the main location is close to the Technology Park and the University of Bremen. On the industrial and economic level, the significant potential lies in considerably shortening the path to innovation. BESTVILLE enables intensified technology development, legitimises investment in sustainable energy practices, increases energy efficiency and promotes energy sufficiency.
