Prof. Dr. Markus Taube is Professor of East Asian Economic Studies / China at the Mercator School of Management and, as a director, chairs the in-EAST School of Advanced Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Since 2009, he has been co-director of the Confucius Institute Metropolis Ruhr, based in Duisburg. He is responsible for the programme area Economics of China. In 2013, he was appointed by the city of Tianjin (China) as a "One Thousand Plan" - Professor of Tianjin City and as an "Outstanding Professor" of Nankai University, Tianjin, (2014-2016). He is a founding partner of THINK! DESK China Research & Consulting, Munich - Hong Kong.
