Basic Studies

Basic studies extend over the first two semesters.

The following modules have to be completed:

Two-semester modules:

  • Public Law I - basic rights & state organisation law
  • Criminal Law I - introduction to criminal law & principles of criminal law (general part), offences against the person
  • Civil Law I - introduction to private law and the Civil Code (general part) & law of obligations (general part) including sales law

One-semester modules

1st semester:

  • Foundations of Law I - methodology of jurisprudence

2nd Semester

  • Foundations of Law II - historical, philosophical and sociological foundations of law

Module examinations

The modules Public Law II, Criminal Law II and Civil Law II are completed at the end of the second semester with a written examination (120 min.) in each subject.

The modules Foundations of Law I & II are also completed with a written examination at the end of the 1st and 2nd semester.

Intermediate Examination

The intermediate examination covers the modules of the 1st and 2nd semester, with the exception of the module Foundations of Law II.

Passing the examination is a requirement for registration for the subsequent modules examinations.

There are three attempts for the successful completion of these modules. Registration for the repeat examinations takes place ex officio. Upon request, the repeat examination can be postponed to a later date. The request has to be addressed to the Central Examination Office, Faculty 06.
