Moot Court Labour Law

On 22 January 2026, the 10th Labour Law Moot Court Competition took place at the Federal Labour Court.

31 student teams from 16 German universities took part in the competition. The University of Bremen was represented by three teams and nine students at the Moot Court, who were supported by Professor Dr. Sebastian Kolbe and Emilia De Rosa.

The students were given the task of representing fictional parties with conflicting interests in court within the framework of a set case. In particular, they had to deal with legal questions arising in the context of several requests for termination of employment in a dismissal protection case and a business transfer. The teams had to prepare a statement of written observations and exchange arguments in a hearing before a chamber composed of judges of the Federal Labour Court.

The first team of the University of Bremen, Dana Larius, Alexandra Karnahl and Manuel Mischewski Gil, competed before the federal judges against a team of the University of G?ttingen. Henri Bergeest, Rik Manzke and Julius Munzel, the second Bremen team, represented their fictional client against the team of the Bucerius Law School Hamburg. The third Bremen team, Marco Graalmann, Louis Marckardt and Adrian Drews competed against a team of the University of Münster. All participants impressed with their thorough preparation, their strong performance before the federal judges, and their remarkable development over the course of the competition.

Special thanks go to Dr. Volker Stelljes as well as Ulrike Brinkmann and Dr. Amel Sari? for their professional support and valuable advice in the preparation for this competition. We would also like to thank G?HMANN and LOYFORT lawyers for their financial support.
