DLR - Institute for Space Systems

The Institute of Space Systems analyses and evaluates complex space systems from a technical, economic as well as socio-political perspective. It develops concepts for innovative space missions with high visibility on national and international level. Space-based applications for scientific, commercial and security needs are developed and implemented in projects in cooperation with research and the industry. With these services, the Institute supports political decisions on national and international space strategy and contributes to securing more weight for the Federal Republic of Germany in the international space environment. On the basis of independent research work on space systems technology, training of systems engineers is being strengthened in cooperation with universities.
