bias - Bremen Institute for Applied Beam Technology
The institute of bias sees its task in the research and development of beam technologies - especially laser beam technologies - in order to convert them into useful innovations. For example, welding processes developed at our institute are now used in aircraft construction. In addition to aircraft construction, our developments find their way into other industries like space travel, shipbuilding, rail vehicle as well as automobile construction and more.
As a major research institute in the area, bias has close ties to the University of Bremen, for example through the Collaborative Research Centre 747 "Microcold Forming". Thus, research and development are not our sole tasks: We see another important task in education. Students of the Faculty of 'Production Engineering' and of 'Physics and Electrical Engineering' benefit from our many years of experience.
