Research Group 11

The Materials Engineering department teaches on the topics of structure and characterization of materials, heat treatment of metals, surface technology and corrosion, mechanical material properties and optimization of material properties, including composite materials, for practical application.

The research deals with experimental and theoretical work, e.g. B. for the further development of heat treatment processes for highly stressed metallic components, tribological and corrosion protection layers, for the mechanical and structural characterization of materials and components, for modeling and simulation of component behavior as well as service life investigations.
