Eine Initiative der Universit?t Bremen und GAK Gesellschaft für aktuelle Kunst Bremen, in Kooperation mit Carl von Ossietzky Universit?t Oldenburg und Hochschule für Künste Bremen/Temporary Spaces
Wie Schulden auf K?rper, Organismen, Beziehungen und Gefühle sowie die Umwelt und Infrastrukturen einwirken, wird oft von finanzpolitischen Abstraktionen und moralischer Aufladung überdeckt. Das Symposium und die Gruppenausstellung verlagern die Perspektive darauf, wie sich Verbindlichkeiten in Geschichten, Erinnerungen, Identit?ten und Umgebungen einschreiben und best?ndig neu formieren.
Die Konjunktur von Schulden im politischen Diskurs steht im engen Zusammenhang mit Ver?nderungen der globalen Kr?fteverh?ltnisse und sich wandelnden Umweltbedingungen, Modelle permanenten Wachstums bestimmen schuldenbasierte Investitionen nun澳门皇冠_皇冠足球比分-劲爆体育 als Voraussetzung für Produktionsf?higkeit. Damit deutet sich eine Ausweitung, oder gar Eskalation der konzeptuellen Analogie zwischen künstlerischer Produktion und einer finanzialisierten Gegenwart an, die Marina Vishmidt und andere im Motiv der Spekulation identifizierten.
Im Anschluss an Leigh Claire LaBerges Absage an eine ?zunehmende Abstraktion“ von Verwertungsprozessen erkundet das Symposium daher die soziale und kulturelle Produktivit?t von Schulden. Die Beitr?ge verfolgen entlang der Knotenpunkte ?K?rper“, ??kologien“ und ?Infrastrukturen“ die Bedeutung von Eigentum, Wert und Zins/Interesse als parallele Momente von Schulden und Kunst seit der Moderne in einer spekulativen Gegenwart. Statt sie zu erkl?ren, zielt das Symposium auf ein erweitertes Verst?ndnis von Schulden als formatives Gefüge von berechneten Wirklichkeiten.

"You are not a loan" – The history and present of debt abolitionist movements
Die Veranstaltung wird gef?rdert durch die Manfred und Ursuala Flu?-Stiftung, Zentrale Forschungsf?rderung der Universit?t Bremen, und die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).
The impact of debt on bodies, organisms, relationships and affects, as well as on environments and infrastructures, is often obscured by financial abstractions and moral charge. The group exhibition and symposium shift the perspective, asking how these liabilities materialize in histories, memories, identities, and space and constantly transfigure.
The renewed prevalence of debt in political discourse accounts to significant shifts in global power dynamics and environmental conditions, while regimes of compulsory growth claim borrowed funds as a prerequisite for sustained production in postindustrial societies. This indicates an extension, if not an escalation, of the analogy between artistic practice and a financialized present outlined by Marina Vishmidt and others in the notion of speculation. Yet once the stakes are exhausted, it goes into debt.
Following Leigh Claire LaBerge’s proposition that there is “no more abstraction,” the symposium consequently explores the social and cultural productivity of debt. "Bodies," "Ecologies," and "Infrastructures" provides instances for situated analyses of how property, value, and interest as structures of both debt and art since the becoming of modernity unfold in a speculative contemporary. Instead of explanatory containment, the aim is to contribute to an extended understanding of debt as a formative framework of computational actualities.
