University of Bremen health study seeks participants from the healthcare sector!

In a Europe-wide study, the team from the IPP's Health Services Research Department is analysing the health of shift workers and non-shift workers in the healthcare sector

Shift work is an independent risk factor for overweight and obesity. Therefore, the aim of the EU project Shift2health is to develop strategies to help shift workers develop a healthy lifestyle despite their rotating shifts. The Horizon Europe project involves 7 countries and 15 institutions (https://shift2health.eu/). The Department of Health Services Research under the direction of Prof Dr Ansgar Gerhardus at the Institute for Public Health and Nursing Research at the University of Bremen and ttz Bremerhaven form the German study center. At the beginning of the project, a large cross-sectional survey will be carried out in five countries, including shift workers from the industrial and healthcare sectors. Based on this, a complex intervention will be developed, which will also be evaluated as part of the project. Strategies will be derived from this and made available for the various target groups.

With the support of the Leibniz- Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology ¨C BIPS and the St. Josefstift hospital, we will initially carry out a comprehensive study with the Bremen study participants. This includes the areas of nutrition, physical activity, sleep and stress. Detailed body measurements and biosamples, e.g. a blood sample, are taken. Based on these results, strategies are developed for shift workers in the healthcare sector to promote a healthy lifestyle.

We look forward to hearing from interested parties who work in the healthcare sector and would like to take part in our study.

Compensation for participants: Some personal results and 40€.
