Prof Dr Karin Wolf-Ostermann reappointed to the Ethics Committee of the German Society for Nursing Science

Bremen nursing scientist appointed to important committee for nursing science research

Prof Dr Karin Wolf-Ostermann from the Institute of Public Health and Nursing Research has been reappointed to the Ethics Committee of the German Society for Nursing Science (DGP) and will therefore continue to serve on the committee for the term of office from 2025 to 2028. On behalf of all members, the DGP Executive Board expressed its sincere thanks to the members of the Ethics Committee for their commitment and fruitful collaboration over the past few years. Thanks in part to the help of Karin Wolf-Ostermann, the DGP Ethics Committee has become an integral part of nursing science research in recent years.

The ‘Ethics Commission DG-Pflegewissenschaft e. V.’ was founded by the Ethics Section and the Board of the DG-Pflegewissenschaft as a nationwide ethics commission for nursing. It sees itself as a nursing-specific contribution to the spectrum of existing ethics committees in medicine, psychology, sociology, educational science and other scientific disciplines. The commission is intended for the ethical assessment of nursing and health science projects that do not have access to the existing ethics commissions or whose questions do not fit into the usual procedural framework. The ‘DG-Pflegewissenschaft e.V. Ethics Committee’ brings together experts from the fields of ethics and research from different locations and specialisms within nursing. In coordination and cooperation with the Ethics Section, the Ethics Commission carries out public relations and advisory work to raise awareness of ethical aspects in nursing research. It also develops information materials and brochures and trains multipliers.
