Rosa Cordillera A. Castillo
Rosa Cordillera A. Castillo ist eine Sozial- und Kulturanthropologin, sowie Kuratorin und Musikerin, die sich auf soziale Gerechtigkeitsfragen durch interdisziplin?re Forschung, Lehre und multi-mediale Wissensübertragung und Praxis spezialisiert hat. Zwischen akademischen, künstlerischen und aktivistischen Praktiken, umfasst ihre Arbeit kritische Bereiche von Erinnerung, Imagination, Medien und Politik, politischen Emotionen, Solidarit?t, Ethik und Dekolonialit?t. Durch einen interdisziplin?ren Blickwinkel untersucht sie die Schnittstellen dieser Bereiche, um innovative Ans?tze zur Untersuchung, Theoriebildung und Ansprache von dringenden sozialen Problemen zu entwickeln, mit einem besonderen Fokus auf Prozesse und Dynamiken der Entmenschlichung und Wiederentmenschlichung, die sich hinter Gewalt, Ungleichheiten und Widerstand verbergen.
Sie hat an der Humboldt-Universit?t, dem Institute of Asian and African Studies (HU-IAAW), der Freien Universit?t, dem Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, der Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies und dem Department of Anthropology und Department of Behavioral Sciences der University of the Philippines gelehrt. Rosa war auch eine Kuratorin am Haus der Kulturen der Welt und eine indigene Rechte-Befürworterin der NGOAnthropology Watch, Inc.
Ihre aktuelle Forschung konzentriert sich auf Medien und Politik, mit einem Schwerpunkt auf der Entwicklung einer politischen und ethischen Ontologie von Fotografien, die Leiden und Widerstand darstellen, insbesondere in Bezug auf den philippinischen Drogenkrieg. Sie untersucht die Beziehungen, die in diesen Bildern enthalten sind, ihre Produktion und (trans)nationale physische und online Zirkulation, Rezeption und ihre potenziellen und Grenzen für Wiederentmenschlichung. In diesem Zusammenhang untersucht sie auch die Rolle von sozialen Medien bei der F?rderung von Solidarit?t und der Versch?rfung von Polarisierung sowie sozialmedien-spezifische ethische Dilemmata der Forschung. Durch diesen Blickwinkel will sie die sich entwickelnde Landschaft der vermittelten Kommunikation und ihre Auswirkungen auf Subjektivit?t und die Konstituierung der politischen Gemeinschaft erhellen.
Dieses Projekt baut auf ihrer vorherigen Arbeit und ihrem Buchprojekt "Being and Becoming: Imagination, Memory, and Violence in Muslim Mindanao" auf, in dem sie die produktive Kraft der Imagination, verbunden mit Erinnerung, Emotionen und Zeitlichkeit, in individuellem und kollektivem Werden untersucht, w?hrend sich ein Hintergrund von Kolonialit?t, Islamophobie, politischer Turbulenz und dem Bangsamoro-Streit für das Recht auf Selbstbestimmung abzeichnet. Dies basiert auf ihrer Doktorarbeit, die eine summa cum laude-Distinction von dem Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology und der Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies an der Freien Universit?t Berlin erhalten hat.
Rosa wuchs in den Philippinen auf, wo sie ihren Bachelor-Abschluss in Anthropologie und ihren Master-Abschluss in Anthropologie an der University of the Philippines Diliman erhielt. Zuvor hat sie unter anderem zu den Lebenswelten von Kompressorfischern, indigenen V?lkerrechten, und gender-basierten Barrieren inbezug auf Zugang zu Gesundheits- und Medizinleistungen in Indien und China geforscht. Sie führt auch engagierte Forschungen für NGOs und Gemeinschaften durch. Vor ihrem Umzug nach Berlin für ihre Doktorarbeit war Rosa Dozentin, Ausbildende und Assistentz-Professorin in Anthropologie an der University of the Philippines Diliman und Manila-Campus von 2005 bis 2011.
Sie gründete und kuratiert die Philippine Studies Series Berlin, eine Plattform für Vortr?ge, Diskussionen und Kunst- und Filmveranstaltungen über die Philippinen, Filipina/o/x und die Diaspora. Rosa leitet das Philippine Studies-Programm an der HU-IAAW, wo sie die Initiative Negotiating Research Ethics mit PD. Dr. Andrea Fleschenberg dos Ramos Pinéu und Dr. Sarah Holz co-gründete und ist eine Hauptinvestigatorin des Berlin University Alliance-gef?rderten Projekts Co2Libri - Conceptual Collaboration: Living Borderless Research Interaction. Zusammen mit Dr. Jonas Bens, Dr. Fabian Bernhardt, Dr. Débora Medeiros und Dr. Verena Straub hat sie auch die "Affect and Colonialism Web Lab" co-gegründet und co-leitet diese, und ist Gewinnerin des Ideas Competition for International Research Marketing Prize der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft. Dieser wird von der Collaborative Research Center Affective Societies an der Freien Universit?t Berlin co-finanziert.
Rosa ist eine Gründungsmitglied des Editorial Boards von Alon: Journal for Filipinx American and Diasporic Studies, das an der University of California Davis angesiedelt ist, und ein Mitglied des Philippine Studies Group der Association for Asian Studies.
