Registration for language courses in the 2025/26 winter semester is now open. There are courses in over 20 languages and in various formats – you're sure to find something that suits you!

Two exciting new podcast series have been created in Jeremy Hookway's English courses at Bremen University of Applied Sciences: “Serious Leisures” by leisure scientists and “TechBytes” by students from various computer science programs. Be sure to check them out!

How can students effectively integrate AI-supported tools such as Grammarly, DeepL Write, or ChatGPT into their foreign language writing process? In a short workshop at the Werkstatt Lehre (University of Bremen), our team will offer insights and strategies.

Our language resource centers (SLZs) are taking a summer break! Here you will find all the information you need about the opening hours of our SLZs at the University of Bremen and at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences during the lecture-free period.

On the occasion of Spanish Language Day, the Instituto Cervantes is hosting an afternoon of language games and informational activities with a slide show on the topic of “50 Years of Democracy in Spain: The Culture” on September 11th at the central branch of the city library (Am Wall).

The SZHB has been a joint institution of Bremen's four universities for 30 years now. This anniversary was marked at the end of June with a ceremony at Haus der Wissenschaft, attended by around 70 guests from academic, cultural, and political circles, as well as colleagues and friends of the SZHB.

As part of the YUFE Language Programme, new language courses for university staff will begin in September 2025. Courses are offered in English and Spanish, a Language Café is in place for German. All courses are delivered in cooperation with SZHB.

In July, the Language Center is offering an exciting workshop on creative writing. Anyone interested is welcome to fine-tune their writing skills in a workshop and a follow-up session.

At a recent YUFE meeting (May 22nd) in the YUFE main office in Brussels, the SZHB presented its language offers for YUFE staff: a success story that began with just five course seats and has grown into a vibrant, multilingual program with over 50 seats offered to staff across all YUFE universities.

From July to October, the Language Center is offering intensive courses at various levels for nine exciting languages. Registration is now open. The tutoring program for independent language learning will also take place again during the semester break.
