Your responsibilities:

  • Teaching courses in the practical language studies section (18 hrs.) in the degree programmes (BA and MA “English-Speaking Cultures” and Master of Education “English”)
  • Collaboration in course planning, conducting language proficiency exams including exam organization and coordination in the field
  • Creating and developing teaching and exam materials etc. as well as their continuous evaluation
  • Accompanying the students' learning progress, advising students, including for studying abroad
  • Recruiting teaching assistants if necessary
  • Tasks in academic self-administration.

The tasks are carried out within the framework of §24a of the Bremen Higher Education Act.

Requirements

  • completed academic university degree (e.g. Master's, Magister or Diplom), preferably in the subject English/English or in the fields of TEFL, TESOL or Applied Linguistics or in a comparable subject;
  • English at the C2 proficiency level as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and a command of German appropriate to the work environment (A2 proficiency level);
  • relevant teaching experience in the teaching of English as a foreign language in tertiary education at the C1 or C2 proficiency levels, including the preparation and administration of corresponding examinations;
  • command of contemporary forms of teaching, media, examination formats and presentation skills, or willingness to (further) develop your own teaching skills accordingly;
  • high level of communication and social skills as well as the ability to work in a team.
