Strategic partnerships
Our strategic partner universities are characterized by extensive contacts and cooperation in research and teaching in several subjects, as well as their comparability in terms of size, objectives and resources. There is a mutual agreement to sustainably develop the partnership together.

YERUN
The University of Bremen is a founding member of the Young European Research Universities Network - YERUN. Seventeen young and research-strong universities have joined forces in this network with the aim of intensifying their cooperation and jointly representing the voice of young universities at the European level.

YUFE
The University of Bremen has always looked for international cooperation in research and teaching. The University of Bremen is part of the university alliance "YUFE" (Young Universities for the Future of Europe). YUFE offers students and university staff Europe-wide opportunities to develop themselves in education, research and careers. In addition to the University of Bremen, the alliance is made up of nine young and innovative universities and two non-university partners: Maastricht University, Nicolaus Copernicus University, Universidad Carlos III De Madrid, University of Antwerp, University of Cyprus, University of Eastern Finland, University of Essex, University of Rijeka, Université Sorbonne Nouvelle, ETS Global and The Adecco Group.

Our partnership with Cardiff University supports staff and student mobility and provides opportunities for affiliation of academic staff between our institutions, cementing joint research endeavors and developing new collaborations.
The partnership – the ‘Bremen-Cardiff Alliance’ – was signed on 8 March 2019 and facilitates the development of joint research activities and new forms of academic cooperation between the institutions.
moreErasmus
The University of Bremen boasts around 300 Erasmus partner universities in Europe. More than 650 agreements on departmental level benefit students, lecturers and staff mobility. Moreover, the University of Bremen acts as coordinator for a number of Erasmus cooperation projects. The University of Bremen also cooperates with a small number of partner universities outside Europe via the Erasmus-International Dimension program.
