The application is open until 15 August 2025.
In order to enable the university's researchers to pursue more extensive projects in the spirit of internationalization, the Rectorate provides additional funds each year through an Internationalization Fund.

The measures must be expected to have sustainable effects that go beyond the one-time activity and must be described in detail in the application.

DAAD project funding programmes
Hilde Domin Programme
The Hilde Domin Programme by the DAAD is aimed at particularly vulnerable students and doctoral candidates worldwide who are unable to begin or continue their studies in their home countries due to political or personal persecution. The programme’s goal is to enable these individuals to pursue a degree or doctorate in Germany with a full scholarship. The funding covers study stays at state-recognised universities in Germany and includes both financial support and additional measures to help with academic and personal integration.
Nomination and selection process:
Potential candidates cannot apply for the Hilde Domin Program independently, but must be nominated by the head of an institution. Nominations can only be submitted online.
The DAAD reviews the nominations received and invites suitable candidates to apply via the DAAD's online application portal. The selection process involves an assessment of the candidate's vulnerability and academic performance. The final selection of candidates is made by an independent selection committee appointed by the DAAD.
Important note:
Please read the official FAQs of the Hilde Domin Programme carefully before applying to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria: https://static.daad.de/media/daad_de/pdfs_nicht_barrierefrei/in-deutschland-studieren-forschen-lehren/faqs_de_2025_06.pdf

International Co-Operations
The University of Bremen has over 400 international cooperation agreements, of which around three quarters are in Europe and one quarter outside. These agreements enable student exchanges and joint research and are usually assigned to specific faculties or institutions. There are also university-wide and strategic partnerships. One important network is the YUFE Alliance, which contributes to the internationalisation of the university. Further information can be found here:
